Craftsman mower decks

Can someone help me please. I have never used one of these sights so I hope I am doing it right. I have a craftsman 917.288260 mower and the deck is bad. I just bought a used 917.272453 mower with a good deck is there anyway possible to use that deck on my mower? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I looked up both models at http://www.searspartsdirect.com.
From the diagrams shown for each model, there is a pretty significant design difference in the two mowers.
I won't say that it can't be done, but It certainly appears that it can't be done very easily.
You would either have to make some modifications in the better deck or to the frame of the other mower to make it work.
Or at least that is the way it appears just from looking at the parts diagrams for each.
Maybe someone else has already figured out a good way to modify the deck to force it to fit the other mower frame.

No, these aren't interchangeable. Your bad deck is a newer different design, using different attachment brackets and methods. What is wrong with the current deck?

Deck is bent

The deck is all bent up. My grass is cutting uneven and I thought it was my deck but after seeing all these other posts I need to do some checking to see if my shafts are bent or something. Thank you for answering I was sure hoping this deck would fit but I guess I wasted that money.

I don't know how much you spent on it, but those decks are in high demand. I can get $200 or more for one in really good shape. You might get your money back.

Put an ad on craigslist, someone will want it. There are a lot of those mowers out there and they are getting older and needing decks.
