Gas In Oil

How much is too much? MTD rider with a Briggs 10.5 hp I/C engine.

I've noticed lately I don't have to choke it to start cold if it has sat a while and there is a slight smell of gas in the oil.

If there is only a small amount of gas in the oil will it evaporate when running or should I change the oil? Only a couple more cuttings till snow then I'll take the carb off and rebuild it.

Thanks

Hello Baldwin,

To be on the safe side, I'd change the oil and add one of these to cut the fuel supply off so it doesn't happen again until you can rebuild the carb.....

Good Luck

I was looking at it yesterday and the carb is right at the back of the machine so putting one of those in should be easy.

It can't leak much, oil is never above full. Then again, maybe the gas is slowly replacing any burnt oil and slowly diluting it. That's why I was wondering if it evaporates or not.

I'll change the oil before I blow it up.

Thanks
