Oil/gas spitting out of vent hose on riding mower (yardman mtd)

yardman mtd 13.5 hp riding mower 13ac762f755 (2007'ish i think)

Mower died when i engaged the blades, then it started smoking really bad. Looked and saw this hose was disconnected and it looked like oil was spitting out... the liquid looked a little blueish/gray instead of jet black, so maybe gas was part of it too? anyway i put the hose back on and turned it on... after about a minute, the oil started seeping out and then the hose popped back off and sprayed the oil everywhere.

ive read that too much oil can cause this, but the mower does not have too much oil in it.

here's a picture of the part, i think its called the crankcase vent hose? it goes into the bottom of the air filter.

a friend said it means the engine is bad, wanted to see if thats what you guys think.

thanks!

Could be a few different things. Crankcase breather bad(gummed up) blown head gasket, bad rings all of these could cause blow by which is what you're getting.

Does the oil smell like gas? If not, the head gasket is likely blown.
