#1 Make sure the plug is getting spark.
Check the oil level, most have a low oil shut off.
90% of the time it a problem with the carburetor. Remove the bowl on the bottom of it, fuel should be running out, lift the float and it should shut off.
More often then not it due to be rebuilt or replaced.
