Craftsmann won't start

I dont know a thing about lawn mowers. I bought a very nice lightly used Craftsman lawn tractor with a 15.5 HP Kolher Command engine (engine model CV155). It worked perfectly when I bought it about 6 months ago, but I had to leave and the battery died. I just replaced the battery (new battery...tested...it's fine), and spark plug. I also had someone clean the carburetor. I put in fresh gas. the guy who cleaned the carb started it with HIS battery...It started fine. I can't get it to do anything... Amp meter on the mower reads ZERO. I needs an oil change and the blades need to be sharpened, It will need a new belt soon, too...BUT nothing should be keeping it from stating from what I can see. Besides, as I said...the kid got it started with his battery... Does anyone know what it could be? Problem with fuel getting to the engine? Improper spark plug gap? I am completely and utterly stumped.

Describe what it will do. When you turn the key does the engine turn over and it just doesn't start and run. Or does it do nothing at all when you turn the key?

Snapper yard Cruiser or Dixon 4515 Which is better??

I have a small yard and have the opportunity to buy either the Snapper or Dixon mentioned in the header. Both are used but in good condition. Never owned a ZTR. Which is the most trouble free, easier to work on, Better value of the two? Thanks in advance. IH

Stihl TS 420 Won't hold idle unless primer bulb is pushed

I was given a Stihl TS420 Cutting Saw to fix. It had pure gasoline run through it, and it would no longer start. I have so far replaced the piston, ring and cylinder assembly, spark plug, hoses, gaskets and carburetor. I have attempted to adjust the idle with the old carburetor, but not with the new one (assuming that it's set to factory standards). The persistent issue is that when it starts, it won't hold a low idle, nor will it stay running unless the primer bulb is pushed continuously. When pushed, the fuel will run the motor until the amount of fuel in the carburetor wanes, then if left alone, it will die out. This has occurred at every turn in the process, and still persists. :wall: I'm not sure where to go from here. What could I be missing? What else can I check/change/repair/replace? :confused: Is there a diagram anywhere that shows how the hoses are supposed to be routed (in case I have them backwards), because I think I have the hoses right, but I am only human. I have checked youtube for backyardmechanic and for donnyboy73, but neither address this issue with this particular saw. Any help or direction you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
