craftsman snowblower 8 and 26

Hi Guys. Not sure I,m doing this right, but if not, sorry. To continue the saga of my snowblower. I finally got the right belts ( Sears Canada) and replaced them along with a new auger bearing, a new friction wheel and a carb rebuild. Runs great. Now my new problem. When I put it into forward the rubber on the friction wheel comes off. Can anyone enlighten me as to what might be wrong. I know the wheel was on the right way. Thanks

There might be too much pressure on the disk, see if the tension on the disk [clutch] is adjustable, it should be just enough to drive the machine. I never liked those vulcanized rubber disks, Murray made a solid rubber disk on my 47 year old machine.
