Honda EM2200X Generator - Carburetor Removal?

I need to replace the carb on this unit. Won't start after being idle for a number of years. Did drain the fuel when I put it away but suspect that the carb is fouled with varnish. I have a new one to put on but can't figure out how to get the old one off. There are two double threaded studs that connect the carb to the throttle body. Removing the nuts on the carb side doesn't loosen the carb.
Any ideas on how to do this? I don't have a service manual and really don't want to buy one for what should be a simple procedure.

If you think it's the gaskets that have the carb stuck in place give the side of it a "love tap" and see if it breaks free.
