Tecumsa 6HP Lawn Mower engine
Before I begin to search and destroy, my Tecumsa will start but only continue to run with my thumb on the priming bulb.
If I let out the bulb the engine will stop.
If I let out the bulb the engine will stop.

Replace the priming bulb. Most likely has a crack in it that is allowing air to get through it to where it doesn't belong.
Might try placing a piece of tape over the primer bulb and see if it will then run.

You need to clean the carburetor. The primer bulb is fine, remove the bolt that holds the bowl on. There are 4 tiny holes in it. Find all 4 and run a wire through them.
