1989 Lawnboy No Spark

Model L20ZPR. Best I can tell there is no spark. Pulled flywheel and found no breaker pts. It's been a while since I messed with a small engine. Are there likely part failures or some simple tests? My test was to pull the plug, have the wife crank it (she doesn't generate a lot of RPM) and I could not see any spark in daylight. Does that kill switch arrangement on the flywheel break create an open or short?

I think Lawnboy grounds the kill wire to turn the engine off. If you're not getting any spark try disconnecting the wire and make sure it's not touching anything. Then you can try removing the spark plug, connect the spark plug wire to it and lay or hold the plug on the engine so it's touching bare metal and pull the starter.
