Mower Engine Stop Throttle Cable Loose

I have a Murray Lawnmower with a Briggs and Stratton Engine. I took it out of the corner in the garage to get ready to use, when I noticed the Engine Stop cable was just hanging there not attached to the lever.

I attached it back, but now there is too much slack in the cable. I am not sure if I attached it wrong or what the problem is. Here are some pictures:

Pull on it and see if the cable pulls out of the housing, it may be broken.
