Petrol, battery or wired lawn mower, whats best?

We have a very old wired electric lawn mower, about 10 years old. If we used this when the grass was wet what would happen? I'm looking on buying on a new one, does anyone who knows about lawn mowers have any advice they can give. Thanks.

Using any electrical device in a wet area is dangerous. However if the lawnmower is in good condition it should be safe enough to use on a damp (not wet) lawn. Also note that wet grass does not cut as wet as dry gas. Inspect the lawn mower for any frayed or cracked insulation around the plug section and where it connects to the mower. Inspect the cord for and cuts, kinks or abrasions. If any then discard. Make sure your extension is rated for both gauge and maximum length that can be used.
