2007 Troy-Bilt pony

Hello I own a 2007 Troy Bilt Pony. I am having trouble with the mower not moving in reverse or forward. It is a 17.5 hp Briggs and Stratton engine( if this info is needed). When I put it in gear and let out the clutch, the drive belt begins to smoke, acts like transmission is locked up but it is not. Any suggestions?

-Thanks in advance!

Check the brake, it may be stuck. Does it roll fine?

Yes it rolls fine when in neutral, and the brake is not stuck
