Troy Bilt pressure washer runs when tilted, not when flat
I have a strange problem.
I have a troy bilt pressure washer, it would not run. I put fresh gas in it, took the carb off and dipped it in the parts cleaner, got it all re-assembled and it runs roughly after it starts.
Now, if I tilt it backwards about 50-60 degrees it runs great. If I have it sitting flat on the ground, it runs very rough
Any ideas why the heck it would to this?
- The spark plug sparks when held against the block
- The carb is cleaned, and the gas is new. The flow from the tank to the carb is good
- New air filter
- Spark plug is not fouled
I'm stumped.

It sounds like you have a carburetor problem. I'd start by looking at the float and it's needle valve.
It would also help if you provided the engine's information: brand, model number...

You might have gotten some bad gas which resulted in some water in the carb bowl, water moves out of the way when tilted, also while it is running spray/dribble some carb/brake parts cleaner behind the carb along the intake, if the engine tempo changes you have an air leak and can take the appropriate action. have a good one.
