1980 yardman gt-18G garden tractor fuse or switch

Hi, I'm new to this forum so if someone can tell me if the small rectangular box between the ignition switch and the starter solenoid pin is actually a relay as a dealer many years ago told me, when he changed it for 20$ or just a fuse as a dealer told me the other day to just put a fuse in its place since I have 12v. up to this part and it is no longer available. Also if I jump across the solenoid the engine fires right up. Any insight would be appreciated.

If it has 2 wires, it is a circuit breaker. If it is not letting 12 volts through, it is correct that you can replace it with an inline fuse. Normally a 15 amp is sufficient.
