The lanmower has a hard time starting on its own without a jump from a car. I check the battery, its fully charged, 12.2 volts. Turn the key to start her up, that number drops to about 3. The engine tries to turn. About a half turn. Then the solenoid starts clicking. Hook a jump up to the battery, starts right up. Check the voltage at the solenoid. Seems right on. Any help is grateful. Thanks.

I agree.
A fully charges lead acid battery should be about 12.8 volts while a fully discharged battery would be 11.8 volts.
