MTD Yard Machines deck belt adjustment
model 13ah762f752
serial 1c206b20224
I have a 38" MTD Yard Machines mower that will not engage the blades properly. I recently replaced the engagement cable and I also replaced the belt with a OEM belt. When I push the lever down tension increases however not enough. There is still about 2-3 inches of slack on the belt. Is there a way for me to put more tension on the belt?

Hello 94SupraTT,
There is no adjustment on this style PTO, Verify that you installed the correct belt part# 954-04062 and cable part# 946-04173E. If both parts are correct, Check the idler arm assembly on the deck. Look for hanging up or too much up-down movement, Also make sure both deck springs are in place and not stretched.
Good Luck

Check that a weld on the deck has not failed, I had a LT1000 that wouldn't engage, the problem was a weld had failed and would pull out of place when trying to engage the blades, however it would disappear when pressure was not applied. Have a good one. Geo
