Gas cap on Brute power washer will not close-gasket hard
I have a 1 year old Brute power washer. The gas cap worked fine before but not I can not get it to twist-lock. It is a basic twist cap with two little ears on opposite sides which you align with the slots in the tank opening and then when you twist it the ears travel along a slight incline to draw the cap down. It seems that the rubber gasket may be too hard to compress adequitely to allow me to turn it.
Do these gaskets get harder when in use? Is there a remedy? It is impossible for me to apply the cap.

Try putting a light wipe of dishwasher or hand soap on the side of the washer that makes contact with the tank. Just a light film will lubricate it.
If that doesn't do it you may have to replace the gasket. There's a lot of comments on here about ethanol fuels in different areas that swell rubber/neoprene components. If that's happened with yours you may break the cap trying to force it to turn.
