honda gx390; 13hp on a BCS walk-behind tractor

I have broken the Honda gx390 starter pull cord. The engine appears to have a small mesh cover to keep plant debris from entering the air-cooling system. How do you recommend replacing the cord? What are the specifications for the cord? Cord diameter? Cord length?

The pull starter assembly should come off with the removal of 3 bolts with 10mm heads. Get your replacement cord (5.5 size should work fine for that engine), take out the old cord, wind up the spool until it stops, then back it up until the rope hole in the spool lines up with the hole in the cover, then feed the rope through and tie a knot in the spool end after you get it through the hole, then let it rewind the rope onto the spool until the last little bit, where you will tie on the handle. Will probably hold 5 feet of cord or so.
