Snowblower idle ups and downs

Hi, I'm completely new to the world of forums and this is my question: I have a Craftsman snowblower with a Tecumseh engine, no trouble starting and if I leave the choke on, the motor runs fine idle but as soon as i take the choke off, the motor starts going up and down in revs. what could cause this? Carb or something else? Thanks guys

The cheap fix is is to rebuild the carb and be sure to clean all the orifices. This will take patience and some very small wires. The quick fix is to replace the carb.

You can try using a carb cleaner and running several tank fulls.
