What should the power bar look like on a Generac?

I have the XG8000E (fortunately I haven't had the need to use it yet, just run it periodically), and the power bar always looks like this (generator on, nothing plugged in):

Name: generator.jpg - Picasa Photo Viewer.jpg

Size: 27.7 KB

Is that normal or should it have a clearer display?

Or does it only change when something is plugged in?

Not sure on the Generac, but on my Honda, if the power bar changes color or gets out of synchronization, the RPMs are too high, and you are leaving the 60 Hz range needed for your appliances. Yours, being green, should be fine.
