Craftsman Blower no spark

A neighbor dropped off a Craftsman blower model 358794732 that I cannot get any spark out of. I don't have a coil tester, but I took it apart and spun the magnet to get a spark from the plug, and to give myself a zap, but got neither one. I have a part number for a new coil but wonder if there is another way to confirm it is bad without taking it to a shop?

Make sure the kill wire or where the wire used to connect is not touching ground or shorting out. That would cause the coil to not spark. You can also try a different spark plug and check the spark plug boot for damage. Sometimes the metal clip in the boot can come unhooked from the conductor in the spark plug wire.

If you disconnect the kill wire and still have no spark and the air gap is correct, the coil is bad.
