Wondering what #1 (black cylindric object) and #2 are (please see the picture). Name: out.jpg

For the reference, the black box that is crossed by the arrow #2 is a slim air filter box.

Looks like a vapor recovery bottle. I see one rubber hose connecting it to the air filter housing.
Where does the second, longer line, connect ?

Is this a generator..... what make and model ?

Thanks. Cannot verify at the moment, I think the second longer line goes to the gas tank.
This is a Powerstroke generator (6800 watt, model unknown) with a GX390 (GCBCT-1421682).

Tecumseh 5.5 hp: won't restart unless primed

I picked up a Craftsman lawnmower with a Tecumseh 5.5 HP engine. I went through the carb (part no. 640174) just to clean it and everything looked pretty good...I didn't replace any parts, yet. I got it running, but found that I have to prime it on every start/restart. I've read some people say this is normal, but every lawnmower I've used you are able to restart it without priming. I mainly just have a general question about these small engine carbs. In order for the engine to restart without priming, the gas has to remain in the emulsion tube and not run back into the bowl (correct?)...but how is this possible if air can get into the bowl from the primer bulb? (i.e. the bowl is not airtight so gas can flow back into the bowl).Read More

I am trying to put the choke back in on GX390. Not really sure I am doing that correctly. The choke assembly is attached to the metal plate (please see the first picture, is that called intake elbow?) I inserted the metal choke pin into the choke lever on the carburetor. [ATTACH]47301[/ATTACH] The first picture shows the choke closed. When I push the choke in (open), the choke plate in the carburetor does not open all the way (second picture). I can open it further manually, if I release it, it slowly half-closes again (please see the video). Questions, do you think this is how is should be, and why does it behave this way? Thanks.
