Why is my Briggs and Stratton riding mower leaking fuel around intake valve now

Whenever it's started it runs for a minute then gas spews out around intake valve and runs down on the exhaust

How can you see the intake valve with the motor running?
Likly the float is sticking or leaking in the caburator.
Time to pull it apart, clean with carb. cleaner and a rebuild kit.

Are you certain fuel is spewing out from your intake valve??? The intake valve is an internal part of the engine and not the sort of thing that spews fuel. Is it possible it is leaking from somewhere else like the carburetor? It would also help if you told us what engine you have (model number) or even if it's a overhead valve or side valve engine, one or two cylinders.

Yeah, I bet you have a leaking inlet needle on your carburetor and what you are seeing is the fuel that has leaked into the combustion chamber and then into the exhaust muffler when you start cranking it.

Does the motor crank a few extra times now, before it starts?

Three responses in a four minute window. How's that for timing! I guess Joe is the faster typer.
