Removing extension from a Ryobi trimmer

Removing extension from a Ryobi trimmer

I recently got the trimmer head for my ryobi returned to me in bad shape. I removed the head and got to what looks like the bold underneath but I think that this is an extension. Here is a pic:

Is this a bolt I need to remove or something like that? I don't see a place I can stick a screwdriver to stop it from spinning.

I believe that part is part of the head assembly.

Ok so how do I put an aftermarket head on there?

If it doesn't have an adapter that fits this drive, I guess you don't.
