Murray 2510 no spark

At the end of last summer a spring on the clutch broke, so I put the weed trimmer away for the year. I had no success finding the spring so I ended up getting a new clutch and replacing it. After putting it back together, and putting gas in it I could not get it to fire up. I was getting gas, but no spark, So I bought a new plug and gapped it and replaced it. Still it would not fire up. I am still not getting spark. So, what else might prevent spark?

No offense intended, is the switch in the "ON" position?

Uplug the coil kill wire at the coil and make sure the gap is correct. If so and still no spark with the plug grounded, the coil is bad. Make sure you are grounding the plug when checking.

How are you certain that it's getting gas? If it sat all winter without being used it's possible a jet or passage in the carburetor is clogged.

I set the gap at .025, which is what I found on line. I will try the coil kill tonight.

Well when I take the plug out and pull a few times you can smell the gas, and the plug is a little damp after gettting my workout pulling the string trying to start it.
