20hp Briggs V Twinn II , model 461707-0143-E1 " Troubles "

Hello, Just bought a used Yard Machine w/ Briggs 20hp v twinn II .. The motor seems to run a little rough, a bit noisy and when starting it sometimes turns slow to not at all .. I'm thinking valve lash ??? any advice on what the problem could be and how to pssibly fix ??? Thank you

That's not a V-twin, so the valve lash is probably not a problem and it's not something adjustable. The slow starting is probably a worn end cap bushing in the starter... a common problem with this engine and it will ruin the starter if used continually like this. The rough running is hard to imagine without a little more detail than that.
