Honda HR214 parts, old model from early 80's

This mower is as old as me I'm told, so actually mid 70's.
Been in the family since new, I've had it about 14yrs and I really like the mower, but it is in need of some service.
Been smoking on startup for a while, usually clears up quickly. This year its a bit more smoky and doesn't totally clear up when running.
I want to try and get parts for it, but having a tough time looking them up.

The engine is a GVX-120, another tag says HR214-JH on it.
There is a serial number on the block, GVX120-6004099 scribed on the block.
Another number is GVX120-118 with maybe a CD after it, hard to read.

I looked on the Honda parts site, but this number does not show up. The site also says that it only goes back to 2004.

Anybody have any ideas on how I can find parts for this engine?
I think I need rings and or a crankshaft seal.

A honda dealer with books should be able to look up the parts. Those engines are really good and most of the ones I still see in service are smoking or have already been rebuit. They generally take a set of rigs to quit the smoking, but that's usually about the only thing they need. I put rings in one over 10 years ago and it still runs like a new one.

Yes, it does. Check for side play on the crankshaft at the flywheel end, just in case.
