Old craftsman rototiller 6.5 hp starts but does not stay running
Like I said in title...it does not stay running..its really old belt driven tiller
it will start and within second it will die...
I tried in choke, half choke and without choke ...all 3 position and also tried in idle and fast setting ...nothing works..
does it need carb rebuild? or something else?

Most likely it's at least time for a carb. rebuild.
I'd conceder also removing the fuel tank and flushing it out, replacing the fuel lines, adding a fuel filter.
This is one tool that most people use for a short time and leave it sitting for a year with the old fuel in it, then expect it to start right up.
Most often that's just not going to happen.
Using nonethenal fuel, adding a fuel stablizer, letting it run out of fuel when your done using it will go a long way to prevent issues.

No information about the motor model or carb, so we are just guessing... but I had an old roto tiller with this style of carb...

First thing every year to get it running I would always have to take off the pump cover on the side (remove 4 slotted screws and tap cover to remove) and clean and lube (or replace) the gasket. Not pumping gas = not running for long. Just be sure you don't lose the spring and cap that are under the gasket! They may fall out when you remove the gasket, so take note of their position.

Please check pics attached....I still can not figure out why fuel is coming out where the air cleaner is....any one has idea?
I must have done something wrong when I put it together after cleaning ..it was not coming out like this before...
also can someone show me how to put linkage properly...one of the link which is long ...is just loose(check pics ) because I cant put it together
do u think this loose linkage is causing fuel to leak like this?

Be sure you have the deep side of the bowl turned the right direction (away from the needle). The float needs to be able to hang down into the deep side of that bowl. Sounds like the needle is staying open and gravity is flooding the air cleaner and engine with fuel. You might want to take the spark plug out and give it a pull just in case one of the valves was open to the cylinder.
You could also have bent the float tang or something if you messed with the float and needle at all.

Yes...I had to mess with float and its spring (pin) a little bit because it came apart while cleaning ...so I had to put it back on and not sure if I put it right ...I tried to show in pics... ....and are you talking about the needle that is connected to float with spring(pin) and I believe that needle goes in to seat correct? I did not even know there was a seat in there...I will check again if seat is there or its gone...

Yeah you probably bent the tang, so your float is probably not closing the needle when the bowl gets full.

Fast forward to about 7:50.
Your float, as pictured in post #12 is definitely NOT sitting level.

What do u mean by tang?
I think its center piece in float where clips goes in to....does this clip has to go in particular way in Tecumseh engine?
so this tang can be adjusted? or I need a new float?

The needle attached to the float closes against a rubber seat down in that inlet hole. That's what shuts the gas off and is why it's leaking. Something is dirty or interfering with it closing or sealing properly.
