Husqvarna Ride On Mower will not start

Kohler Motor - unsure of model #
My husband was mowing and tried to reverse and forgot to disengage the PTO. The mower backfired an died. It will not start at all. My brother-in-law looked at it to see if he could figure it out, but to no avail. He couldn't even move the flywheel. When you turn the key, you can hear a "click" like it is going to TRY to turn the motor, but nothing. We have checked all the wires, the battery, and anything we could think of. Any suggestions as what else to look at?

If the flywheel is stuck, check to see if the starter gear is jammed into it. Was it out of oil? If the bearings in the pto clutch are bad or the pto is still engaged it could stop the engine from turning easily too.
