So I'm assuming this means you have a good battery? I mean, if you're charging the battery before using it because it's dead every time... that would be good to know here. Feels like I'm pulling teeth.

Yes, charging battery before every time I mow. As of now have regulator unhooked, because it runs battery down & the wiring harness is hot to touch.

How old is the battery? There should be a code on a small round sticker that has a letter and number, like G2 or H1 or something similar.

How about the possibility the battery has been reversed some time and blown the diodes in voltage regulator?
Have seen that happen a few times in my career.
