Cratsman Trimmer 316.711370 - Help to Pull Fly Wheel

Hello All:
Craftsman Incredi-pull Weedwacker Gas Trimmer
Model# 316.711370
Air cooled 2-cycle engine

The fins on the fly wheel of my trimmer are severely damaged- about 1/3 of them broken off. Having cleared all of the debris and presumably the cause, I am not able to get the fly wheel off. I would rather ensure I get this off without further damage, before investing in more parts on this (have already replaced the clutch assembly).
The videos I have viewed on line demonstrate leveraging with a screwdriver or crow bar and tapping the center shaft. Having tried this it still won't budge. Is my only option to borrow or buy a puller? None of the videos I could find resemble the setup of this particular trimmer for the fly wheel and shaft.
I am getting pretty darn close to new replacement cost if I have to by a puller I may never ever use again, plus flywheel and shipping cost due to my rural location. It is of interest to me to "do it myself", but not just for the challenge and costing more than replacement.
Any thoughts, tips, appreciated. Thanks!!

I have never run into one that wouldn't pop off with a sharp blow from a hammer while the screwdrivers hold pressure under it. A puller would do it, but I'd say give it another shot with the current method. Make it a good sharp blow, not a heavy follow-through blow.
