Kohler Command valve cover leaking
Hi,
I am working on a John Deere LT160 with a Kohler Command engine. Engine model number is CV460S. When I got it, the valve cover had been leaking for some time. Pulled the valve cover off, cleaned the surfaces on the head and the valve cover very well. Put a bead of Ultra Black RTV sealant on the valve cover and installed. Started it after it dried, but still leaked at the bottom. Realized that when I installed the valve cover that the cylinder head let oil come in contact with the wet sealant. Cleaned the surfaces again and put a good bead of sealant on the valve cover and installed. This time I jacked up the front of the tractor to keep the cylinder head oil from getting to the wet sealant. I let it sit up for 20 hours to make sure it was dry. Started it up and still getting a drip of oil from the bottom of the valve cover. I wish that Kohler had put gaskets on these. Any other ideas to stop the leak?
Thank you
