ryobi s430 4 stroke trimmer , no spark
quit running and was given to me. Took spark plug out and no spark when touching it to the metal around engine to get ground when pulling starter cord. How do i troubleshoot it further on this model?

First, use a new plug and check it the same way. If no spark, disconnect the kill wire from the on/off switch and check again. If still nothing check the kill wire running back to the ignition coil/module for anything that may be grounding it. If it's all good there, think about replacing the coil.
