Honda EB5000x tripping circuit breaker without load
Hey guys,
My name is Lou, first time here. Hopefully you can guide me in the right direction with this one. I'm working on a Honda generator EB5000x (Serial# ea7-3013148) that was sitting for a while. Now that i cleaned the carb and got it to run properly, the generator trips the circuit breaker when the switch is turn to the 220V position, and this without load or anything connected. When the switch is turn to the 220V position, it also deactivates the auto-idle feature of the engine. Meaning the RPMs go up when the switch is turned.
Any suggestions where i can start looking ?
Thanks in advance !

Welcome to the forums.
I have several Honda generators and have never come across that problem. It does sound like one of the major power wires is shorting inside the wiring box. I'd start by taking the wiring box apart and checking all the large wires for a short to ground. Possibly a wire fell off a terminal.
This should be your manual. There is a wiring diagram in it.
