Gas chainsaw
I have a little Mculloch chainsaw that hasn't been used in around 5 years - can I just start this up? or is there something I need to do first to it??

Try it and see if it starts. That will know if something needs to be done to it. If it was properly put away it should run. If it was left with fuel in it then the carburetor will probably need cleaning.

You can try to start it. You've got nothing to loose. I just wouldn't "expect" it to start. If it doesn't start you may need to dump the fuel. Clean the fuel strainer. Maybe replace the fuel lines. Disassemble, soak and clean the carburetor. Put it all back together and then give it a try.

You think I should try to start it with the fuel that is in it? I thought I need to dump it and put in some fresh stuff?

Put in fresh fuel, if it has a primer, prime it a bunch of times to flush the old fuel out of the carb, the primer is really a purge pump to purge air from the carb, however it will purge the air and old fuel, then try to start it. Have a good one. Geo
