What Lubricant Should I Use In Auger Gear Box Of A JD Model 828D Snowblower
I have a John Deere model 828D walk behind snow blower I recently purchased that I believe was manufactured by Ariens about 1996.
It seems very well made and has a cast iron gear box for the auger system. I did not get a owners manual with the machine so I'd like to find out what gear oil to use in the augers gear box and what is the proper level.
Cast into the side of the gearbox it says "use compound gear oil" followed by L 1, or L2 or LL which is hard to read.
Anyone know what this means or what current lubricant I should use and what the proper full level is?
Thank you

I think this might help. I simply googled "auger gear box lube for your model and it was one of the links that came up.
