35 HP Vanguard - Briggs & Stratton Won't Start / Crank

Hey Guys,
I have a fairly new 35 HP Vanguard engine that will not crank.

It would attempt to crank the other day, but the connection @ the positive battery post would get hot and smoke. I assumed this was just a weak spot due to the undersized / under gauged connector.

I replaced the entire wiring system with 10 gauge wiring and replaced all of the connections from the solenoid to the battery. After doing so, it did a half crank then everything died!

I am sure something fried, but I am not sure where to start.

Can it be a fried solenoid? Fried Starter? Fried Switch? Ignition coils?

What are your thoughts?

You're using 10 gauge wire to crank a 35hp engine? You might have burned the wires in half. That's not nearly big enough.
