Post kolar cv492s 18 hp

cut grass parked tractor. next day went to start no way. 60 to 70 comp. back fires through carb replaced head gasket checked elec valve under carb ckecked air gap on ignition there is no adj. on valves seems to be out of time

That may be a loose intake valve seat. When you had the head off did you look at the seats/valves? It's not something connected to the air gap on the coil. Timing would have to do with the flywheel key shearing, but unless you hit something that isn't too likely.

First try turning it over and watch the valves to make sure they're moving like they should. If the intake isn't sealing or the exhaust not opening - either would be a problem.

It may be the flywheel key. It's common enough to shear one on a kohler for no particular reason, sometimes you shut it off after running fine and next time it won't start. Worth checking.
