woodruff key keeps breaking
Hello everyone,
I have a Craftsman riding mower lt2000. Model No. 917.273756 that's about 10 yrs old.
The woodruff key #61 (half-moon shape) for the disk brake keeps breaking. I put in new pads, spring and brake rod. The rod is adjusted to about an 1 3/4". About 10 minutes into mowing the brakes stop working and it will no longer stop.

Try spending a few cents more for a hardened key. Most likely you are getting a soft key. That application needs hardened.
