help removing fuel strainer cup

You should remove the carb to do this. Then you can figure out how it works and make sure to clean all the passages in and out. There may well be a chunk or piece in one of them.

To finish my thought on filling the bowl...if you measure some how the amount of the bowl (you should be able to see a line/level in the bowl where the fuel level normally rises to), then when it stalls on you, turn off the fuel valve, and drain the bowl and compare the amounts.
