Exclamation Best "recipe" for shaft oil seal install?

I have a chipper motor that I am finally getting back together. I have the oil seal ready to go on, but made the mistake of watching a few videos and info.

Here are the recipes I've found so far:

1) Loctite on outer edge, oil on inner edge.
2) Oil on outer edge, oil on inner edge.
3) High temp adhesive on outer edge, oil on inner edge.
4) Bearing grease on outer edge, bearing grease on inner edge
5) Nothing additional on outer edge, nothing additional on inner edge (just as it comes from the package)

It's a B&S engine, but I can't find anything on their site WRT oil seal installation tips.

Any recommendations from the forum?

Regards,
leaning

If the shaft is in good shape then just slip it on. A touch of oil to help it slide won't hurt.

A little oil on the lip of the seal and shaft to help it get in place easily is all I do if I do anything at all.

Jeez, I've built 400HP V8's...and it was a rub of oil/grease then smack/press that sucker in. Same with wheel bearings. Never had an issue.

No adhesive or sealant.
