Angry poulan 4218 numerous problems

I've about had it with this saw. I've had it more than 10 yrs. maybe 15. I took it to a craiglist guy who said he fixed it - it did start for him 2 years ago. So the problems are:
1. Hard to start. Pull rope 10-15 times with choke out an in until it starts to sputter. Push choke in pull rope. Pull choke out and pull repeat sequence until it starts to run. each time it runs a bit longer until it's warmed up enough that it finally runs. but then :
2. dies under load. Now it's easier to start.
3. Once it's hot and dies then it's hard to start again.
Any suggestions or should I give up and buy an electric?

You loose the portability with an electric saw but they do cut well.
Do you store the saw for long periods of time with gas in it?

I'd say replace the carb and possibly the lines and primer, but that still might not fix the hard to start problem while it's warm. It's a cheap bottom of the line saw and already old, I personally wouldn't put any effort or expense into it but you might find it more worthwhile than I. If you go electric, be aware that the cheap electric models come with plastic gears and I've seen them strip within the first hour of operation.
