Tecumseh yard vac can't pull crank

I've been using my tecumseh on my yard regularly, today I did a few loads and it won't crack. The pull cord got tighter and tighter and now it won't move at all. Did I seize the engine? If so, how do I fix it?

Does it feel like the pull cord is somehow bound up or do you think it's the engine? Try removing the spark plug and try pulling the starter cord.

What model engine are we working with here? I might pull the spark plug out and put some oil into the cylcinder and see if the piston will loosen up a bit, even some Mystery Oil might work, be sure to drain the oil after .

I think it's the craftsman 247.770110 from the manual.

That’s not the engine model number, it should be stamped on the engine itself.

How low? Barely touching the stick? I have a feeling it is locked up but since it did it while cranking, maybe you can salvage it by adding oil to the spark plug hole as mentioned and then take the cover off so that you can rotate the engine by the flywheel and see if you can make it turn. It's also possible that something is wedged in the fan side of the unit. Usually if a tecumseh runs low enough on oil that it has this kind of problem, it's not long before there's a hole in the side of the block.

follow cheese's suggestion. I had this happen last year and a little stick got wedged between the flywheel and the housing. While you have it apart, do all your normal maintenance and check the recoil system while your at it.

The drain plug should be under the deck. I had to take the plastic cowling off and the recoil and that's where I found the stick wedged.

There's no "deck" on a yard vac. The drain plug is at the base of the engine.

Hi, check this link out, but turn the machine on it’s side and drain oil out of the fill tube.

Ok, the liquid wrench and some choke cleaner managed to get the piston unstuck. It coughed out a bunch of carbon and then smoked like crazy but now it works great again. Thanks.
