Have a Troy Bilt Bronco riding mower 13YX78KS011 DOM 2013 in the shop for service. While checking it out I noticed that the mower would keep going after you let off the drive pedal. I called the customer and asked him if he was aware of this and if he lost a spring somewhere. He said he just deals with it and was not aware of a missing spring. Well , he calls me back two days later and informs me he does remember a loud bang however the mower was acting normal. He also told me he did find a spring the next day. I got the spring from him. It is approx 9/16 dia and the body is about 10.5 inches long. I jacked the unit up and found part of the spring still attached to a spring holder that is part of the idler assy. The problem is finding where the other end goes. I went to Lowes and looked at a new Bronco and looked for the spring only to notice that MTD changed the design and now there is a 1 in spring going from the idler assy to the back of the mower somewhere. I have repair manuals however none show where this spring goes. That is why I am asking this forum if anyone knows.

I have an older Scag mower (SSZ 22CV 61") that came with our new house in 2016. Today while mowing it threw the main drive belt from the engine to the mower deck. I re-installed the belt and went back to mowing and it threw it again. Re-installed a 3rd time to try to get the lawn finished and it threw it almost immediately. The belts looked rather old and worn, so I've got new ones on order. No debris in the belts anywhere that I've seen and all 3 spindles are pretty tight (one has a barely perceptible about of play in it). But, both idler pulleys have pretty significant (about 1/8") vertical play at the pulley. The play is in the pivot at the end of the arm, not in the pulley bearing. Is this normal or should I replace the bushings in the arms too? I'm just not sure if it's the belt or something else making it jump.
