Craftsman RIding Mower no start condition

I have a Craftsman riding mower that won't start (worked perfect the last time I used it). It is a 42" cut model # 917.259556 / serial # 090297COO2754. It has a Kohler 15.5 HP Command model CV15S motor (Spec 41567) Serial # 2723308934. The battery is good, not sure if this is an issue with the key switch or the starter. Nothing happens when I turn the key. Any input is appreciated.

How do you know the battery is good?
What is the voltage at the battery?
Do you get power at the starter switch?
If power is getting to the switch is is making it to the solenoid?

The battery is good - 12+ volts. I found a bad 15A blade fuse down by the starter. I changed it, the mower started & ran about 3 secs & died. I changed it again & the fuse popped immediately. I pulled & tested the starter, it seems to be working fine. I'm trying to trace the wiring down now to see what I can find.

Most likely you have a bad relay. Many of these craftsmans with the single cylinder kohler had 3 relays under the gas tank area. You can change all 3 for pretty cheap, or buy one and a few extra fuses and swap them one at a time until you find the right one that doesn't blow the fuse when you change it.
