add primer bulb to small engine?

Have the wife's old lawn tractor running great and she's been having a ball rolling and aerating the yard. The problem is that it takes quite a bit of cranking to get the fuel flowing after it sets for more than a couple of days, and of course it's going to set for more than just a few days as time goes on. I have found a little seepage around the fuel pump diaphragm, so am going to take it back apart and try some gasket sealer, but wondering about adding a primer bulb like on an outboard while I've got the fuel lines disconnected. Any reason not to? It's a Kohler K161 with a pulse or vacuum operated fuel pump by the way, but doubt that matters much.

I guess I don't know of any reason it couldn't be done. Might save your starter.
