ride on mower wont stop

I have a ariens ride on mower (model 936083 42") automatic.

When going forward or back wards, it does not stop. Usually when I let go of gas pedal the mower will stop. For some reason when I let go of the gas, it still moves (slowly) , it should be at a complete stop.

Also the problem before this was when i switch the key from forward and reverse, the gas pedal is extremely hard to press, I would have to slightly press the reverse pedal (very lightly) then I can go forward and vice versa with going forward. (this problem started happening first, then the brake was next).

Any idea whats goingg on?

This has probably the worst and most trouble prone transmission ever made IMO. It is plastic and the delicate controls are on top of the transmission, right where all the grass and debris settles. You'll need to take the battery and battery box out so that you can gain access to the top of the transmission and get a high pressure blower with a thin steel nozzle on it and blow all the debris out. Stick the nozzle down in the cracks and under the moving linkages so you can try to dislodge the packed in clippings and dirt. I had one of these a few days ago with chips of pinecone under the workings keeping it from shifting properly. These transmissions don't seem to want to get 200 hours on them before they leak, break, or cause some sort of problem.
