My 8 HP techumse engine's carborator is leaking around the weep hole. I don't know what a weep hole is (My DAD told me). What does this mean?

The weep hole is like a vent hole.

Thanks a lot for the info. Is that a vent for air or gas?
It is located on the bottom of the carb. In any event, I just put a shut off valve on the gas line and turn it off when I'm finnished mowing so the gas wont leak out while it is sitting. The mower (old snapper I bought for $225) runs fine. Hey, thanks again.

Wow . That's a lot of dough for a used mower. I usually get 'em for nothing. Lol. The last one I gave to my grandfather just had a jammed starter cord which I fixed and then I tuned up the mower and serviced it. Two years later it's still running and I use it every week.

Problem with Sears mowers is the steel deck. They rot out. So, I will transplant this motor, handle and wheels to the deck I have from my parent's 1979 model Craftsman which the engine seized when a tree stump was hit. Ouch!! We replaced the deck with a Sears service part and then I saved the unit when the motor died.

I will do that swap after the season is out.

Good luck.
