I was wondering

I was wondering if its possible to take a lawnmower engine and sit it so it's head up and make it work? I can change the carb around and stuff but i don"t know if it will get enough oil or not. I need a horazontal shaft motor for a project and i dont want to go buy one if at all possible. Any words of wisdom would be greatly apreciated.

Hello and Welcome Junk-Man to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Small Engine forum. Keep in mind my company no longer services nor repairs small engine powered lawn and garden equipment. However, the help I can offer you is based upon my prior years in this industry with this type of equipment.
Your absolutely correct. You would waste lots of your time making all the external changes only to shortly after starting up the emgine, watch the engine seize up do to a lack of oil lubrication and other reasons...
Best suggestion is to visit the local lawn mower repair shop and buy a used edger engine...
