Tractor pedal hard to depress
I have a Craftsman lawn tractor model #917.986410. It has a CVT transmission and I'm having trouble pushing the accelerator pedal froward. It'll snap forward and move sometimes it seems to stick. In addition many times it will not engage reverse. This is a Pro 7000 Series w/a Kohler engine and only has 70 hours/5 yrs old.
Follow the linkage I can't see any adjustment. Any help would be appreciated

Welcome. I can't speak to the inner workings of the transmission, but, regardless, I would start with the linkage, including the pedal, rods, pivot points, springs, etc., specifically looking for anything bent, broken, missing, etc. In addition to wear, sometimes a stick will get picked up, wedge itself in a bad spot, and bend or tweak something. If you don't spot anything, and can find the point at which the linkage attaches to the transmission, I would detach it there in order to isolate the problem.

I agree.
If you disconnect the linkage at the trasmission you could see if the resistance is in the linkage or the transmission.

Still, you would have remove the linkage to isolate the problem.
You could have a binding problem in the linkage that is not visible.
Are there any traces of a fluid leak?
A slow leak and being low on fluid could have damaged the transmission.
